Getting Your Board Repaired:
GUIDELINES – Covered Items:
- Structural cracks or breakage in the deck, rails, or hull. Board takes on water. Caused by a defect, not abuse.
- Lamination failure in deck or hull.
- Leakage around plug due to improper cement adhesion.
- Leash pin (located in plug) failure.
- Paint chipping or peeling (no impact apparent).
BOARD TAKES ON WATER
- Dry the exterior completely.
- Open the plug and remove the o-ring and fabric.
- Invert the board and shake it ? Does it leak? if the board
took on water in the ocean, it must be immediately rinsed out with
fresh water and then allowed to dry out with the plug removed.
- After cleaning and rinsing with fresh water, dry exterior completely.
- Inspect the deck and rails for cracks. If none are visible it is very likely the plug was not properly sealed.
- Carefully remove and inspect the plug, cloth, and rubber gasket. – SAVE these.
- If the cloth was wrinkled or missing, or the rubber gasget is
damaged or missing, chances are your board is fine. Call your dealer or
Hydro Epic for a replacement gasget.
- If this does not appear to be the problem, or if cracks are visible, proceed to leak test.
STRUCTURAL LEAK TEST (two people required)
- Pour a cup of fresh water into the board and roll it around so both rails get wet from the inside.
- Place your mouth over the plug to make an airtight seal. Take a
deep breath through your nose, blow into the board., and hold it
so the board stays under a slight pressure.
- Have a friend check the rails and deck for any water bubbles.
- If found, circle the area with a crayon, pencil, or mark with masking tape.
- Drain and dry the board and prepare it for shipment
